"Oh come on Asef, you'll need to at least do some cardio if you plan on keeping up with him," Sharef said with a smile as he worked on one of the machines while his personal stalker stood by with a scowl on his face. Even the body guard seemed certain it was safe enough here to work on some weights while keeping an eye on the young man but Asef was determined to ruin everyone's fun. Sharef didn't mind though, he knew Asef always meant well and though he did get bored easily he rarely ever spoke about it. He would only quietly put up with it, muttering a few words under his breath that one might expect a sweet old grandmother to say when she's stressed out or angry.
"I'm fine right here your highness," Asef said, arms crossed and the scowl still perfectly in place as he leaned against one of the pillars just watching the two. Sharef just chuckled a little at Asef's bad mood before glancing over at Ahmed who still had his sunglasses on, even in this dim lighting. He shook his head when he got no response from the bodyguard and then turned his attentions back to his own exercise.
there were a number of other people there but Sharef barely even thought about it. He was used to always having company that when a few more people were around, they tended to go unnoticed, even when they were looking over their shoulder or watching him and wondering what those other two guys were doing, hanging around him all the time. Sharef didn't mind though, he was open to being gawked at. In fact, he was used to it and at times, he even expected it from the people around him.
Thinking back, Sharef just blocked out the rest of the world for a while as he often did when he was in the gym. It was one of the few places he could go to when he wanted to stop and be left to his own thoughts for a while, or even when he wanted to escape them. Either way, this was one of the places he would go to.
Today his thoughts centered around his future. He had no idea where things were going. This was only meant to be some time away where he could be in America and learn to like it enough to improve relations between the two countries, at least that was the argument he used to convince his father to let him come, but it wasn't about that. Sharef wanted freedom and he got that here.
He got to be away from the people who knew him and watched him grow up and he had swapped them for the people who hardly knew him at all. The very ones he could get to know on his own and allow them to get to know him in return, not for his title but for him. The guy before the public mask he was so used to wearing. He needed this too. Sharef had lived by playing the role that had been set for him that he almost forgot how to just have some fun without worrying about the consequences.
It was always about the consequences with him. He had to be good enough and to set an example for a whole nation where half the populations was made up of youths like him. It was his generation that was the majority and so most would look to him to be the perfect Prince and do what was right at all times. Sharef would do it too. He loved his country and the people but he needed time for himself as well and he got that here. He had friends, people who were happy to enjoy his company and not even think about any of the political side of it. People like AJ and Diana and everyone else. It was just what he needed.
